Playing around with different brushstrokes and calligraphic settings, and experimenting with different styles of lettering, led to this “missing my other half” illustration:
The hand-lettering looks messy and loopy, but I kind of like that. I’m digging the way “bottles” and “Scott” look.
For what yet, I don’t know... kind of. There is a poster project I was asked to contribute to, where these black roses could look striking and lovely. I want to draw 100 of them first... In the meantime, here are 14:
These are drop caps for his opening chapters. (Our first collaboration together, which will be the start of many more.) I would encourage everyone to pre-order and support his book; not just for my own heartfelt reasons— because it’s a piece of beautifully designed, well thought-out, artfully architected history.
